The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is a family foundation established in 1944 by the man who started Hilton Hotels. We provide funds to nonprofit organizations working to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people throughout the world.

Fast Facts

  1. Rooted in a history of family philanthropy, the Foundation is guided by our founder's mandate to relieve the suffering of the distressed and destitute.
  2. Conrad N. Hilton established the Foundation as a philanthropic trust in 1944. Following his death in 1979, the Foundation became the principal beneficiary of Hilton's estate. As of December 31, 2009 Foundation assets approximate $2 billion.
  3. Since our inception, we have given nearly $900 million in grants; currently more than half of our annual grants are international.
  4. A family foundation, our board of directors includes a majority of Hilton family members. Our staff administers our financial and grantmaking responsibilities, oversees the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, and supports initiative and program work worldwide.
  5. We are located in Los Angeles, California and Reno, Nevada.
