Fourth Quarter 2011 Grants
Following is a list of priority area grants approved at the quarterly board meeting held on November 15, 2011.
$9 million over three years
For continuation and expansion of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Human Development (WASH/HD) program in Ghana, Mali, and Niger, with subgrants to the Desert Research Institute and Messiah College.
$1.5 million over three years
To support its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Advocates project. This project focuses on addressing the issues of safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene through advocacy and awareness creation.
$750,000 over three years
To help chronically homeless individuals transition from the streets and hospitals in the Santa Monica area into permanent supportive housing.
$350,000 over two years
To incorporate early childhood development interventions for young children and their caregivers affected by HIV/AIDS into an integrated community development program in rural Zambia.
$1,500,000 over two years
To support a $3 million project to integrate early childhood development services into PATH’s existing projects in high HIV/AIDS prevalence areas in Kenya and Mozambique.
$450,000 over two years
To support First Place for Youth housing and wraparound support services for at-risk youth aging out of foster care in Los Angeles and to support an evaluation of its program replication and continued expansion.
$400,000 over two years
To strengthen the San Diego State Guardian Scholars Program by providing support for scholarships and program operations.
$150,000 over one year
To assist with the planning of the Women Religious Project.
$390,000 over two years
To support “The Transformation of Religious Life in North America: An Action-Oriented Initiative.”
$85,000 over one year
To help the Secretariat of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations conduct the Latino/Asian Vocations Study and a seminar on consecrated life for bishops.
$200,000 over one year
To provide financial aid for students with demonstrated need in the 2011-12 academic year.
$1 million over one year
For water provision at the Kambioos Refugee Camp in Dadaab, Kenya in response to the Horn of Africa crisis.
$500,000 over one year
To support WASH activities at Kambioos refugee camp in response to the Horn of Africa famine crisis.
$250,000 over one year
To support a Cholera Outbreak Preparedness project in the Horn of Africa.
$250,000 over one year
To support the "Building on 10" capital campaign.
